The Board of Trustees is responsible for the strategic direction of the school.
Mr. Stefan Urner is responsible for the operational management, serving both as Managing Director of the Lakeside School Foundation and also as Head of School for both Lakeside School Küsnacht (since 2001) and Lakeside School Horgen (since 2012).
It is the Head of School's responsibility to create optimal conditions to ensure that Lakeside School develops continuously according to its central ideas. In addition the Head of School is responsible for the personnel and financial managmeent at both Lakeside School Küsnacht and Horgen.
The link between the school administration and the teachers are the "Division Heads". Taking responsibility for the pedagogical and organizational aspects as well as the human resources needs of their respective levels, the Division Heads at Lakeside School Küsnacht are Ms. Melanie Thomson for Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten and Ms. Livia Gmür for 1st. - 6th. Grades.
Stefan Urner acquired his primary teaching diploma in Canton Zürich. After three years of teaching he dedicated himself professionally to movement theatre. Three years later he returned to classroom teaching in Uetikon, where, in a managment position, he co-developed the ’Teilautonome’ School Uetikon which includes kindergarten to Grade 9. At the same time, he completed the Canton Zürich training course for school heads as well as a course becoming a specialist for quality development both at Kindergarten and Primary levels. He became head of Lakeside School Küsnacht at the beginning of the school year 2001/02 and since 2012 has also been Head of Lakeside School Horgen, as well as Executive Director of the Lakeside School Foundation.
Melanie Thomson has been involved in the education sector in Spain, the UK and Switzerland since 1991. After receiving her TESOL certificate to teach English as a second language, she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Primary Education at Sheffield Hallam University, UK. She grew up in a bilingual home in Switzerland and the UK, and has taught from pre-nursery to adults, gaining valuable experience in bilingual teaching environments. She spent five years as the director of a British summer school in Madrid, and has written and taught professional development courses for teachers in Spain. She taught musical initiation to Kindergarten children, set-up and ran a music playgroup in 2001 and an international playgroup in 2003. After moving to Switzerland, she joined the team at Lakeside School Küsnacht in August 2006. Since 2008 she has been the Division Head of the Kindergarten, as well as the Pre-Kindergarten from 2017. In August 2018 she took on the role of the Deputy Head of School.
Daniel Ng is originally from Malaysia and grew up in Switzerland, where he graduated from the Inter Comunity School (ICS) in Zumikon. A qualified primary and secondary school teacher, Mr. Ng holds a Bachelor of Education (BEd) and a double master’s degree. He obtained his MA Education Leadership and Management from the University of Roehampton (UK) and his MSc Advanced Educational Studies from the University of Glasgow (UK). Mr. Ng spent two years teaching in the UK where he taught at The American School in London and Southbank International School. In Switzerland he taught at the Inter-Community School Zurich and at Obersee Bilingual School where he served as the Head of Primary School in his final four years there. Alongside his role as Primary School Division Head, Mr. Ng serves as a board member for Circle of Schools. Furthermore, he is involved with educational leadership of bilingual and international schools in Switzerland for which he is conducting doctoral research with the University of Buckingham (UK). He is very pleased to take over as Division Head of Primary School at Lakeside School Küsnacht from 1st October 2021. Mr Ng lives in Oetwil am See, enjoys travelling and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Some of his interests include politics, exploring different cultures and all things culinary.
Jane McTigue grew up in the South of England. She gained her Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate at the British Council in Monza and has taught adults and children English as a Second Language (TEFL) both in Northern Italy (five years) and Switzerland (language schools, after schools clubs, playgroups). In Italy, she co-founded Play English International School of Monza. Within Switzerland, she gained her Bachelor’s degree (Psychology) and worked for several years with children with special needs (linked to Autism project KJPD, Zürich). She also co-founded Autism Kompetenz-Zentrum, Thalwil. Ms McTigue joined Lakeside School Horgen as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher in 2009 and has been Division Head Kindergarten in the Horgen campus since 2011. In May 2020 she completed her Head of School certification at the Pädagogischen Hochschule in Zürich. As of August 2021, Ms McTigue moved into a 100% management role, leading the Kindergarten Division for both Horgen and Küsnacht, dividing her time equally between campuses.
